LINDALE, Texas — The Lindale Police Department is warning people to be aware of a scam in which people are spoofing their phone number and trying to get people's money.

The police department said the alleged scammers have faked the LPD's number and they are reaching out and requesting documents to be signed. The Facebook post also says the caller is asking for money to avoid a consequence.

"Lindale Police Department will not reach out in this way - Do not respond to these texts. If they call, do not send them money or share your personal information," the post read.
