You haven’t heard the last of La Niña when it comes to upcoming winter weather.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has released new updates on El Niño–Southern Oscillation, or ENSO, activity.

The NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center’s latest analysis of ENSO states that “La Niña is favored to continue into the Northern Hemisphere winter, with a transition to ENSO-neutral most likely in January-March 2026.”

And while ENSO and its effects are complicated , the simple version is this: cooler-than-usual temperatures in the Pacific Ocean result in La Niña, which can then affect climate patterns across the globe.
