Dale never thought he would fall victim to a scammer.
The North Bay resident told The Nugget on Wednesday it’s been a “rough” couple of months fighting with his bank to get his $12,000 back.

He reached out to The Nugget after seeing article after article about police warning residents about romance, crypto, and other scams that have left people penniless.
Dale, who asked not to use his last name, said his story isn’t like your typical scam victim story.
He said he received a call on Sept. 16 from someone claiming to be a Royal Bank of Canada representative asking him if he wanted to upgrade his life insurance policy with the financial institution.
“The caller knew all of my information,” Dale said. “So at that moment I didn’t think anything of it.”
