CALHOUN COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened over the weekend in Calhoun County.

On Nov. 15, a deputy with the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office came across a man who was driving an allegedly stolen black Ford Mustang. After a vehicle pursuit through Orangeburg County, the suspect reportedly crashed the car into a tree located in St. Matthews, which is in Calhoun County.

The driver of the stolen car then allegedly got out of the car and began attacking the deputy and attempting to get into his car before the deputy reportedly shot him.

Both the deputy and the suspect were sent to the hospital for injuries sustained during the attack. The deputy has been released; however, the suspect is still hospit
