The president of the Alberta Soccer Association (ASA) has been removed from the board and suspended for five years after an investigation found he engaged in workplace harassment and “inappropriate conduct,” according to a five-page letter sent from the association board to its members.
Association members must still ratify the sanctions at a special general meeting which the ASA says has yet to be scheduled.
JR Figueiredo was elected president of the association in February.
After a workplace harassment complaint was filed against Figueiredo in August, he brought in an HR consultant and legal counsel to advise the board.
Based on their recommendations, HR firm Veritas Solutions was hired to conduct an independent investigation.
