SHREVEPORT, La. - Residents in Shreveport are seeking answers about potential risks associated with plans to install drilling rigs on the grounds of the former Shreveport Country Club.
The historic property, located directly across from a long-established neighborhood, spans roughly 200 acres and once operated as the city’s first golf course.
The site has drawn additional attention following a large fire last month that destroyed the clubhouse.
In the months prior, Apex Natural Gas announced its intention to drill for natural gas on the land, prompting community members to voice concerns about safety, environmental impact and long-term changes to the surrounding area.
A town hall meeting addressing the issue was held Monday at 5:30 p.m. at the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum. Dustin Dav
