A Seymour man has been charged with animal cruelty after animal control officers located a severely malnourished Cane Corso last month.

Woodbridge Regional Animal Control responded to a Seymour residence on Oct. 20 following a report of “possible animal neglect/abuse,” according to the Woodbridge Police Department .

An investigation allegedly revealed that the dog was emaciated and severely malnourished, police said. Animal Control officers reported that the Cane Corso’s “spine, hips and ribs” were “protruding” and the dog was transported to Shelton VCA for life-saving medical treatment, according to police.
