TWO HARBORS, Minn. (Northern News Now) - A Superior-based developer could soon break ground on a major housing project in Two Harbors, with city and county leaders calling the proposed 75-unit apartment building a crucial step toward meeting the region’s pressing housing needs.
Vision Incorporated, which recently completed the Gunflint Vue Apartments in Grand Marais, MN, has committed $15 million to the $17 million North Shore Flats project. The development company is now seeking tax abatements from the city, county and school board to move forward.
Lake County Housing and Redevelopment Authority Director Matthew Johnson says housing shortages are slowing growth across the community, making both the county and city eager to collaborate on the project.
