LOS ANGELES — Oscar-nominated actor Diane Ladd died from acute on chronic hypoxic respiratory failure, according to her death certificate obtained by People magazine.
The certificate listed the primary cause as respiratory failure, a condition where insufficient oxygen reaches the blood. Interstitial lung disease, which Ladd had been battling for years, was noted as an underlying condition, with esophageal dysmotility listed as a contributing factor.
The three-time Academy Award nominee died Nov. 3 at age 89 at her home in Ojai, California. Her daughter, actress Laura Dern, announced the death that day, saying she was at her mother's bedside.
“She was the greatest daughter, mother, grandmother, actress, artist and empathetic spirit that only dreams could have seemingly created,” Dern
