LOS ANGELES — Oscar-nominated actor Diane Ladd died from acute on chronic hypoxic respiratory failure, according to her death certificate obtained by People magazine.
The certificate listed the primary cause as respiratory failure, a condition where insufficient oxygen reaches the blood. Interstitial lung disease, which Ladd had been battling for years, was noted as an underlying condition, with esophageal dysmotility listed as a contributing factor.
The three-time Academy Award nominee died Nov. 3 at age 89 at her home in Ojai, California. Her daughter, actress Laura Dern, announced the death that day, saying she was at her mother's bedside.
