SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - A man is in custody and is facing charges for allegedly trying to rob Popeyes on Sioux City’s Hamilton Blvd.
Court documents show Sioux City resident, 28-year-old Carlos Antonio Chavez Lopez, is charged with two counts of second-degree robbery and one count of criminal mischief.
At about 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16, authorities say Lopez entered the fast-food establishment, jumped over the counter, and demanded money from the cash register.
Lopez allegedly grabbed a computer monitor off a counter and threw it, and threatened to kidnap the victim.
An employee intervened and held the defendant on the floor until officers arrived to take him into custody.
Lopez is being held on a $25,000 bond.
