Catawba’s men’s basketball team started 1-1, bouncing back from Friday’s 69-68 loss at Lander to annihilate nemesis USC Aiken 90-52 at home on Sunday.
Catawba had lost four straight to USC Aiken, including a game in the regionals last season. Mark Vanderslice (West Rowan) is in his 11th season as USC Aiken’s head coach.
Justin Banks led the Indians with 21 points at Lander. Nick Walker went 10-for-10 at the foul line and scored 18. The 6-foot Daniel twins combined for 13 rebounds, 12 points and seven assists.
Catawba held USC Aiken to 25-percent shooting on Sunday, while shooting 56 percent.
LeVionne Lindsey led five Indians in double figures with 15 points. Banks had 14 points and 14 rebounds.
