SUMMIT TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WILX) - The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a three-week-old infant.
Deputies and Summit Fire and Rescue personnel responded to a residence on Hickory Court in Summit Township around 7 a.m. Monday for a report of an unresponsive child.
Upon arrival, they found the infant in distress and not breathing. Lifesaving measures were initiated, and the baby was transported to the nearest hospital, where the infant was pronounced dead.
The Sheriff’s Office and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) are continuing to investigate the incident.
Authorities said, according to MDHHS, a baby in Michigan dies every two to three days due to sleep-related causes. It is unclear whether sleep-related factors played a role in this
