DETROIT, MI - An Ypsilanti man who was accused of making fake returns and keeping the refunds has been sentenced to more than four years in prison.

Mubasher Riaz, 42, will serve 50 months in prison after pleading guilty in June to conspiracy to commit wire fraud, according to court records. That sentence will run concurrently to another sentence of 188 months, roughly 15 years, for coercion and enticement of a minor.

He was sentenced Thursday, Nov. 13, before U.S. District Judge Matthew Leitman, court records show.

Riaz and his brother, Muzzammil Riaz, were charged earlier this year after police discovered while investigating the former for sexual abuse that the pair been making fraudulent returns.
