The last Winn-Dixie in Mississippi is going away, but it's not closing permanently.
Rouses Markets , a Louisiana-based grocery store chain, announced this week that it plans to buy 10 Winn-Dixie locations in Mississippi and Louisiana.
“We are proud to welcome these stores, their team members and their customers into the Rouses Markets family,” said CEO Donny Rouse Jr.
The chain will take over in 2026 and is reportedly planning remodels at the Hattiesburg store and one in Central, Louisiana. All 10 will be remodeled in the next few years with new store layouts, equipment and designs to show the new brand.
The stores will temporarily close to reopen as Rouses Markets.
