CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. ( WWSB ) — A 20-year-old Nokomis man is scheduled for a hearing this afternoon on boating under the influence charges after investigators say he was drunk when the boat he was driving injured a party-goer’s legs with its propeller.

Luca Mascaro faces the charges stemming from an incident on May 24 at H2O Waterfest near Boca Grande.

Investigators say Mascaro drove his father’s yacht to the event and was repositioning the boat with several others when the victim got caught in its propeller.

Officers on scene say Mascaro was slurring his speech and was uncoordinated just after the collision. His blood alcohol level was 1.24.
