ALBANY, New York (WWNY) - The latest poll from the Siena Research Institute, released Tuesday, shows incumbent governor Kathy Hochul leading Republican challenger Elise Stefanik by 20 points.
While it’s a large lead, it’s five points down from the last time Siena polled, in September.
The poll continues to show warning signs for the governor: her favorability and job approval are both down five points since September.
Moreover, when voters were asked “as things stand now, would you vote to re-elect Hochul or would you prefer someone else?” Hochul loses in the suburbs around New York City and upstate, while leading by a comfortable - but not overwhelming - 13 points in New York City.
