COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH) says it has confirmed five new measles cases connected to the ongoing Upstate outbreak, bringing the outbreak total to 49 and the statewide total for 2025 to 52.

DPH says two of the newly reported cases are household members of known measles patients who were already in quarantine. The other three cases involve unknown sources of transmission, raising concerns about continued community spread.

Initial investigations have identified potential public exposure sites , and officials say more information will be released as details are confirmed. The individuals directly exposed, as well as affected facilities, are being notified.
