The 40-man roster deadline is on Tuesday. Ahead of the deadline, the Boston Red Sox made a move by acquiring infielder Tristan Gray from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for reliever Luis Guerrero. In order to make room for Gray, the Red Sox designated Nathaniel Lowe for assignment.
Gray, 29, has appeared in 47 games over three seasons for three different teams. In those 47 games, he’s slashed .207/.264/.369 with four home runs. He hits left-handed and is versatile in the field, spending time at all four infield spots in 2025. Gray is yet to hit arbitration, and has one minor league option remaining.
