DULUTH — A late spring trial date has been scheduled for the man accused of fatally shooting his mother inside their East Hillside home earlier this year.

Nathan Douglas Davin, 47, is set to face a Duluth jury beginning May 19, under the schedule set by Judge Leslie Beiers at a recent hearing.

The defendant allegedly claimed that he woke up with Mae Dean Davin, 74, dead inside their residence, but was later heard admitting that he shot her, according to court documents.

The victim was apparently asleep in a recliner when she was shot once in the face at close range Aug. 16, inside the house she owned at 1511 N. Ninth Ave. E., prosecutors said.
