Minnesota’s 2025 firearms deer harvest continued to hold above 2024 levels after the first nine days of season, preliminary numbers from the Department of Natural Resources show.

According to the DNR, hunters statewide registered 122,276 deer through Sunday, Nov. 16, which is 7% above the first nine days in 2024.

The tally also is 4% higher than the five-year average of 117,955 deer, DNR statistics show.

Paul Burr, acting big game coordinator for the DNR, said he expects the numbers through Nov. 16 “will creep up slightly as registrations continue to come through, but not by a lot.”

By region, preliminary numbers after the first nine days of season were as follows:

Northwest: Hunters registered 38,309 deer, up 7% from 2024 and 1% higher than the five-year average of 37,882.
