WAREHAM, Mass. —

A Wareham Department of Natural Resources officer found his cruiser window had been vandalized by a falling quahog on Monday.

The department posted on Facebook saying "an investigation was conducted and it has been determined to be a targeted incident because of the nature of his job."

The suspected culprit? A seagull.

According to the Mass Audubon Society, seagulls will often use a "clam drop" technique to smash open shellfish and other tough-to-crack foods by flying high and then dropping their food onto a hard surface.

In this case, it appears that surface was a Wareham cruiser.

A department spokesperson says the quahog did not sustain any injuries and was returned to deeper water.
