Pompton Lakes police officers rescued a resident from a burning home on Monday morning.
The fire broke out at 10 a.m. at a home on the 1100 block of Ringwood Avenue with officers arriving to heavy smoke conditions, Pompton Lakes police said.
Two officers — special officer Jason Ekkers and Sgt. Edward Bartlett — broke a sliding glass door, and Ekkers pulled the woman toward the rear exit, officials said.
Other officers searched the smoke-filled home and found no one else.
Two police officers were brought to an area hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. One has since been released, while the other was transferred to Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston for additional evaluation.
The rescued woman was also transported to a hospital. Officials declined to say how serious
