KNOX COUNTY, Tenn. — Knox County Commissioners previously set aside a budget of $3.5 million for a proposed track. The property is county-owned and has sat unused for years.
Captain Aaron Yarnell with the Knox County Sheriff's Office said having this facility would allow them to better train deputies.
"Our officers train a lot when it comes to driving, so to have our own would be beneficial not only for the sheriff's office but for the other agencies that we're having to work around," he said.
At a public meeting on Tuesday night, community members raised questions about the cost of the track in comparison to renting out other tracks in the area.
