BELTON, Texas — Millions of Americans are bracing for major hikes in health insurance costs as enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies are set to expire at the end of the year — and Texas is expected to feel the impact more than any other state.
On Truth Social , President Donald Trump urged Republicans not to “waste” their time attempting to extend the enhanced subsidies. Without congressional action, at least one million Texans face a difficult choice: pay significantly higher monthly premiums or drop their health care coverage entirely.
Open enrollment began Nov. 1, and many Texans insured under the ACA say their premiums have already doubled or even tripled. It’s a financial blow many say they simply cannot absorb.
