WASHINGTON, D.C. ( 25News Now ) - The two congressmen representing Central Illinois rarely agree on key issues, but they were united on forcing the Justice Department to release files pertaining to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein .

U.S. Reps. Darin LaHood (R-Dunlap) and Eric Sorensen (D-Moline) were among 427 House members who voted for the bill .

Both lawmakers released statements following Tuesday’s vote, each claiming they were doing so to provide transparency.

LaHood made the following statement:

“Today, I voted to release all documents related to Jeffrey Epstein’s heinous crimes and provide full transparency to the American people.

I will continue to support the Oversight Committee’s ongoing efforts to release any remaining documents from the Epstein estate to ensure
