ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — An alleged illegal gambling operation was busted inside a Jonesboro gas station on Tuesday night.
Three men, Faiyaz Khimani, Feroz Khimani and Sriram Vanteru, are facing multiple drug-related charges. The owner, who was not there, will face the same drug charges as well as a charge of keeping a gambling place, according to the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities said the arrests come after a multi-month vice investigation that determined the store was illegally paying players.
“They’ve come in here and gambled and got monetary U.S. currency payouts,” said Major John Norrod with the sheriff’s office.
Owning and operating the gambling machines is not a crime, as long as the customer is paid out in store credit.
