DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - The Sunday School kids at Saint John’s Free Lutheran Church love to help other kids around the world.
Christmas is coming, so they’re packing shoebox-sized packages with supplies that are considered luxuries in other parts of the globe.
It’s called Operation Christmas Child, and the shoeboxes are filled with donated items like pens, crayons, pencils, and paper.
Toys are welcome, too.
“Especially a wow toy like a soccer ball or doll,” said Joy Hoooer.
Operation Christmas Child is a national gift drive put on by Samaritan’s Purse.
The items donated by Northlanders could go to Asia, Africa, South America, or Eastern Europe.
Joy Hooper runs Saint John’s education program.
Her sons, Matthew and Joshua, help out with puppets that really get the little
