OROVILLE, Calif. - A man was arrested in Oroville on Saturday after deputies found him with a stolen firearm. The Butte County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a potential suspect at Skyline Boulevard and La Mirada Avenue around 10 a.m.
Pedro Carrera-Hernandez, 25, from Corning, was identified as the suspect. During a search, he admitted to having a handgun.
Deputies found a spray-painted handgun, a box of 9mm ammunition, loose rounds and an empty magazine. A records check showed Carrera-Hernandez was on probation and lacked a concealed carry permit.
The firearm was confirmed stolen from Portland, Oregon. Carrera-Hernandez was taken to Butte County Jail and faced charges for carrying a loaded firearm in public, possession of stolen property and probation violation.
