Sherwood voters on Tuesday rejected three bond issues that city leaders said would have led to the construction of a new animal shelter and a sporting events center, with some opposed to the initiatives saying they'd balked not at the need for the improvements but at the lack of transparency in the process.
The first of the three measures on the ballot Tuesday would have given the city the authority to issue $4.1 million in bonds in order to repay debt from bonds issued in 2018 and 2023. With an estimated 100% of the votes counted, unofficial results for the first measure were:
