NEW DELHI: Reports indicate that Umar Nabi, the suicide bomber behind the Red Fort blast, visited his family home in Pulwama about a week ago. The investigating agencies had recovered a video the other day in which Umar justifies suicide attacks, calling them “martyrdom operations.” The footage was retrieved from a phone Umar had handed over to his brother during that visit.
According to officials, Umar gave one of his mobile phones to his brother before leaving for Al Falah University in Faridabad. Shortly afterwards, some of Umar’s university colleagues were arrested, prompting his brother to panic and dispose of the phone by throwing it into a nearby pond.
When agencies attempted to track Umar’s phones, both were found switched off, with their last known location traced to Pulwama. Ac
