Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has urged the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, to urgently revoke the re-imposition of the Protected Area Permit (PAP) regime in Nagaland, stating that the decision is unwarranted and risks undermining the state’s growing tourism-driven economy.
In a letter to the Union Home Minister, Rio highlighted that the Ministry of Home Affairs reinstated PAP for Manipur, Mizoram, and Nagaland from 17 December 2024, reportedly due to rising security concerns in the border regions.
