The benchmark indices staged a rebound with Sensex rallying over 544 points and Sensex soaring 172 points in the mid-trading session on Wednesday after a volatile trade, amid weak global cues and a lack of fresh positive domestic triggers, as the quarterly earnings season concluded. Investors await fresh cues. In addition, foreign fund flows were choppy.

Sensex climbed 396.31 points or 0.47 per cent to 85,069.33 (trading at day’s high) at 12.33 pm after opening at 84,643.78 against the previous close of 84,673.02. Nifty 50 climbed 114.05 points or 0.44 per cent to 26,024.10.

The midcap index rose by 0.27 per cent at the time of writing, while the smallcap index dipped 0.23 per cent.
