It’s a wet and chilly midweek start across Newark and the North Jersey region, with steady morning rain prompting an umbrella-worthy commute.

If you’re stepping out early, expect delays and give yourself extra time on the roads.
As of 4:30 a.m., it’s 41 degrees at Hawthorne Avenue and Bergen Street in Newark’s South Ward, with rain falling steadily across the area.
Depending on where you are in North Jersey, that rain may mix with sleet or wet snow, especially in higher elevations.
While the wet weather won’t linger all day, the morning commute will be soggy.
