Monroe County's two hospitals — Monroe Hospital and IU Health Bloomington Hospital — were included in the fall 2025 hospital safety and quality report by nonprofit The LeapFrog Group .
Monroe Hospital received B overall while IU Health Bloomington Hospital received a C. The study included 73 hospitals in Indiana and graded each on five areas: infections, problems with surgery, safety problems, practices to prevent and doctors, nurses and hospital staff. Both hospitals did not provide information for all of the categories. IU Health Bloomington Hospital received the worse hospital scores for several areas.
