The funeral service for former Vice President Dick Cheney is set to take place in the nation's capital on Thursday, Nov. 20.
The former American businessman and politician died Nov. 3 of complications of pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease, his family said. Born in Lincoln, Nebraska, in 1941, Cheney grew up in Wyoming, where he served as a lawmaker and later retired.
He was 84.
Cheney served as vice president under George W. Bush from 2001 to 2009 and is considered one of the most powerful and controversial men to hold the role, largely due to his role in leading the push to invade Iraq in 2003 and his views on presidential power.
