More than 150 members of the West Virginia National Guard deployed to the nation's capital will remain in Washington, D.C., through the end of the year in support of President Donald Trump’s "DC Safe and Beautiful" mission.

West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey authorized Guard members to volunteer for continued service in the capital, according to a WVNG news release Tuesday, and plans to re-evaluate extending the mission every quarter through the end of Fiscal Year 2026. Kanawha Valley
