LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A new report from the Kentucky Department of Education shows improved student performance across the state compared to previous years.
The annual accountability and assessment data highlights gains, particularly in reading and math. It shows students scored proficient and distinguished rankings for both reading and math at higher rates. This marks the highest performance levels seen in the past four years across elementary, middle and high schools.
KDE attributes these improvements to efforts and special programs, including the Kentucky Reading Academies and Numeracy Counts initiatives.
Beyond academic achievements, the report also brings positive news regarding the overall school environment:
Students are reporting increased feelings of safety in schools.
