Calling it a symbol of the “unwavering commitment to build a solid foundation” for city students, Manchester officials held the first of two groundbreaking ceremonies this week on Wednesday, celebrating the kickoff of renovation and expansion projects at two middle schools.

On Wednesday, school and community leaders gathered to mark the start of The Middle School at Parkside’s expansion and renovation project. On Thursday, many of the same officials are expected at Southside Middle School to mark the start of renovations at that school.

Parkside will undergo renovations, adding a 23,000-square-foot, two-story expansion that modernizes facilities and strengthens connections to Gossler Park Elementary. The school will serve grades 5-8. Modular classrooms will be used during construction.
