CENTRAL, Texas — With the expectation of severe weather affecting large areas of the state beginning Wednesday, Governor Greg Abbott directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management to activate state emergency response resources.
According to several weather services, a severe storm system capable of bringing heavy rainfall and causing flash flooding will move into the state today. The system also brings risks of damaging winds, tornadoes and large hail, expected to impact large portions of the state of Texas.
"Texas stands ready to deploy all emergency resources needed to help local communities across the state prepare and respond to severe weather," said Governor Abbott. "The safety of all Texans is our No. 1 priority."
