EDEN, N.C. — Deputies arrested Michael Vernon on Tuesday night for four counts of second-degree murder without regard, according to the Rockingham County Sheriff's Office. He also faces three counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury in the April 24 crash that killed four linemen in Eden.
A true bill of indictment for the new charges came down around 5 p.m. Tuesday, and Vernon was arrested that evening.
Vernon is scheduled to appear in court today, Wednesday.
In court, we learned Vernon is being held under a total of $1.6 million secured bond, facing $200,000 for each assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury charge and $250,000 for each second-degree murder charge.
