A baby sulcata tortoise is safely back at Ethan’s Exotic Pets & Aquatics in Greenwood after police recovered him from what may be the most unpredictable two-day crime spree Greenwood has seen in a while.
The tortoise was swiped from exotic pet shop on Nov. 10. By Nov. 12, he had been located, returned, and, according to his owner, “has seen more of Montague Avenue than any tortoise ever asked for.”
Ethan Myers, the 21-year-old owner of the pet shop, said he realized the tortoise was gone when he closed up for the night and noticed only one remained in the enclosure.
“I started digging through the substrate thinking he buried himself,” Myers said. “When he wasn’t there, I knew someone had taken him. I was worried, because these guys need heat, UV light, very specific care, and it was get
