The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is considering redesigning the Aadhaar card. In the future, the Aadhaar card may only contain the holder's photo and a QR code. This means the card will not have the Aadhaar number, name-address, date of birth, or other biometric information.
UIDAI CEO Bhuvnesh Kumar stated in an online conference that new rules are being formulated to prevent misuse of Aadhaar copies. Following this, even when viewing an Aadhaar card or submitting its photocopy, your details will not be shared with any other individual, organization, office, or company.
Specifically, organizers of hotels, telecom SIM sellers, conferences, seminars, etc., will not be able to misuse your Aadhaar photocopy. UIDAI plans to implement the new rules in December 2025.
