Chief administrative officer Rebekah Msuya-Collison said in a report to council that a developer had expressed “preliminary interest” in a “small-footprint casino” in South Huron ranging from 557 square metres (6,000 square feet) to roughly 1,115 square metres (12,000 square feet) at 70589 Bluewater Hwy., the former property of the Boat Store. Council previously passed a motion in 2019 declaring its support for a casino gaming facility in the Grand Bend area near Dark Horse Estate Winery and the Huron Country Playhouse, but development didn’t occur.
