Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel is asking the Board of Commissioners to restore seven of the 18-½ positions it has denied so far for the proposed 2026 budget, saying they are “essential” and warning that failing to fill them “exposes the county to significant financial, operational and legal risk.”

Hackel, in a 1-½ page memo sent to the board Tuesday, appeals to commissioners to approve three positions in the Finance Department and two positions each in Purchasing and Facilities & Operations at its budget approval, which is slated for Thursday afternoon in the county Administration Building in Mount Clemens.
