The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is delivering 250 truckloads of food to communities across the U.S. The first one was delivered to Food for Lane County Nov. 18.

The semi load of shelf-stable food was donated to the food bank's warehouse as part of the church's commemoration of the nation's founding. The Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4, 1776, and the LDS is calling its effort to deliver food to all 50 states America250.

According to a news release, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is also hosting seven nonprofit partners at The Giving Machine , a special vending machine for donating during the holiday season, in Valley River Center from Nov. 22-Dec. 14, which will further benefit localfamilies in need.
