MAYWOOD, New Jersey (WABC) -- Two men are under arrest in New Jersey, accused of trying to steal items from a mailbox.

Police say two people were caught in the act taking items out of a mailbox, at the Maywood Post Office.

The mailbox is located on West Pleasant Avenue right out in front of the post office.

The box is covered and out of service as a result.

The mailbox has been breached by thieves on three separate occasions within the past 24 days.

At around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, the most recent theft attempt happened.

The thieves were caught on camera going into the box using a mailbox key. That is something only certain postal workers are supposed to have.

They were also caught on camera on November 14. They appear to be going after checks and personal documents. They target any
