CLINTON HILL — UNIONIZED STARBUCKS WORKERS in Brooklyn joined a national walkout Thursday, part of the “Red Cup Rebellion” action, timed to the chain’s busiest day.
Baristas formed picket lines outside the Lafayette Avenue store in Clinton Hill in a broader push for higher wages, better staffing, and resolution of more than 100 unfair labor practice complaints nationwide, according to Patch .
The strike follows six months of stalled bargaining and a breakdown in talks last December. Starbucks Workers United, which says it represents 550 stores and 11,000 workers, warned protests will escalate if the company does not offer a contract addressing pay, hours and staffing.
Workers say the open-ended action is a response to alleged union-busting and months of failed negotiations. Last
