OTTAWA—With reports of an imminent deal for a west coast oil pipeline, Natural Resources Minister Tim Hodgson said such a pipeline would need to have British Columbia’s support.
“What we’ve said is for it to go through a jurisdiction, you need the support of the jurisdiction,” Hodgson said in an exclusive interview with the Star.
Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has launched a $14-million study of a pipeline that would bring Alberta oil to the B.C. coast at either Prince Rupert or Kitimat B.C., largely following the route of the defunct Northern Gateway project. B.C.‘s Premier David Eby is adamantly opposed and Hodgson said the impasse would be for the premiers to resolve.
