According to county District Attorney Gary Pasqua, Garris is accused of striking a person in the head with a hammer during a November 1 domestic dispute in his town of Pierrepont home.
Pasqua said the person was taken to Canton-Potsdam Hospital for treatment.
Garris was arrested, arraigned and ordered held in the county jail on $25,000 bail.
He’s scheduled to be arraigned in county court on the charges in the indictment on December 2
